Vineyard Notes: Camino Alto Vineyard is farmed by Ron Mansfield & his son Chuck, who oversee the vineyards of some of the best wineries in the foothills. Their family has been growing grapes, peaches, plums, pears & apples in the foothills for 4 generations. The vineyard, planted to Chardonnay & Cabernet Franc, is located in the foothills north of Camino in El Dorado County.
Cellar Notes: We received just over 3 tons of beautifully clean fruit, which was destemmed to 3 bins. The wine took just over 2 weeks to complete fermentation & was then pressed & racked to 7 neutral barrels. The wine was then aged for 29 months before being bottled unfiltered in April 2023.
Tasting Notes: Big & bright berry fruits dominate the nose here, with blackberry, blueberry & marionberry all represented. In the mouth, tart pomegranate & raspberry take over, with hints of cardamom, clove, tobacco & mocha lingering through a long structured finish.
