Vineyard Notes: The Walkers have been growing grapes in El Dorado County since the 1930’s. Their 220 acre property, sitting at 2100 ft of elevation, is planted to Riesling, Chardonnay, Barbera & Petite Sirah. The vineyard soil is a coarse loam with lots of sand.
Cellar Notes: We hand harvested four tons of grapes for our frist time ever making Riesling. The low pH made this a good candidate for fermention in our concrete egg - so we destemmed grape clusters to our press & pressed clean juice to a stainless steel tank for cold settling before racking the juice to our concrete egg for a native fermentation.
Tasting Notes: The sweet version has many similar tasting notes to the dry Riesling. It is intensely acid-driven with sweet floral notes, stone fruit & a honeyed aspect. The palate is refreshing, with jasmine, ripe peach & pear, & honey on the finish.
Pair With: Cheese plates, light fruit-based desserts, fried rice
