Vineyard Notes: Small backyard vineyard on the Sonoma side of Los Carneros (the southernmost & coolest section of Napa & Sonoma Valleys), very close to San Pablo Bay. 25 rows of vines planted in 1986. This area benefits from the almost daily morning fogs, which make it ideal for cool-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir.
Cellar Notes: Decided to make this fruit into rose this year since the Pinot Noir is always a favorite! Destemmed 3 tons into the press while it was rotating & then pressed the juice off immediately & cold settled. Racked to stainless steel tank for native fermentation which took 25 days. Kept in stainless until bottling in April 2025.
Tasting Notes: Noticeably brighter than the red version of this wine; aromatics are very cranberry & citrus-fruit dominated, with a touch of rose petal. In the palate, the acidity clarifies the citrus fruits, showing blood orange & grapefruit, with a dry earthy edge.
Label: we took the flamingos from our past red wine Pinot Noir labels and brightened the background to represent a rose and put them walking through downtown Sacramento.
