Vineyard Notes: For this first ever vintage of varietal Primitivo, we brought grapes in from 2 vineyards – La Mesa & Clockspring – both in Amador County. La Mesa has a reputation for a good Primitivo among Amador County wine folks & we have consistently loved the Albarino we’ve brought in from Clockspring. While these two were ultimately blended, in the future we will be bringing in Primitivo solely from Clockspring.
Cellar Notes: The two Primitivo lots were processed, fermented, & aged separately in neutral oak for 6 months, then blended together & aged a further 12 months in a combination of neutral & new French oak.
Tasting Notes: Complex & layered, this wine brings aromas of blackberry, cherry, & cinnamon, while the palate is smooth, but intense, with cherry, anise, & cocoa.
Pair With: Spaghetti bolognese, Seared pork belly, Vegetable tagine
