Vineyard Notes: Small backyard vineyard in El Dorado, located high in the foothills north of Camino, Ca. The property belongs to Doug Veerkamp (a large construction businessman in the Sacramento area). It is farmed by Chuck Mansfield who oversees the vineyards of some of the best wineries in the foothills. His family has been growing grapes, peaches, plums, pears & apples in the foothills for 3 generations.
Cellar Notes: We received almost two tons of hand harvested fruit which we destemmed to macrobins for fermentation. Punched down 2-3 times daily until dryness, on 9/19/24, then pressed to neutral barrels. With no additions during elevage, the wine was racked from barrel, sparged & bottled unfiltered in June 2025.
Tasting Notes: We haven’t made Grenache since 2018 and it’s one of Joe’s favorites wines so it was time to find Grenache (hence the label)! Our 2024 vintage has notes of red brick, strawberry, rose, and graphite. It has a playful acidity with light & playful juiciness.
Pair With: Duck breast, Grilled salmon, Mushrooms, Pate
Label: One of Joe's (owner of Rev) favorite wines is Grenache and we haven't made a Grenache since 2018 so it was time to give Joe what he wants. In the winery, the winemaker's always called this wine 'Joe's Grenache' and we joked that we'd put a picture of him on the label. Here's an ode to owner and his Grenache.
