Vineyard Notes: Camino Alto is located high in the foothills north of Camino, CA in El Dorado County. It is farmed by Chuck Mansfield who oversees the vineyards of some of the best wineries in the foothills. His family has been growing grapes, peaches, plums, pears & apples in the foothills for three generations. The Chardonnay block is an eastern-facing hillside on decomposed volcanic soils.
Cellar Notes: We hand harvested three tons of grapes this year and destemmed the clusters to our drain press to get as much clean juice as possible. Following our Chardonnay standards, we fermented the juice in a mix of new French oak, neutral French oak & a stainless steel tank. After fermentation, we created a homogenous blend and then the wine spent a year aging in approximately 80% neutral oak and 20% new oak. This wine was bottled in November 2025.
Tasting Notes: Another stellar Chardonnay from Camino Alto Vineyard. The aromas are classic stone fruit (peach/apricot) with hints of more tropical fruits & a toasted nut/vanilla aspect from the new oak. In the palate, it is rich without being overly buttery, with a good acidity & plenty of fruit, mineral & some floral notes.
Pair With: Moqueca, White bean chili, Roast pork loin
Label: The quail represents our Chardonnay labels each vintage.
