Vineyard Notes: Fields Family Vineyard was the 1st certified organic vineyard in the Lodi appellation. They have about 10 acres of Syrah, and a few other varieties, all planted around 1990. The vineyard is west of 99, just south of Acampo.
Cellar Notes: We hand havested approximately three tons of fruit this year; per usual we foot treaded these in 1-ton macrobins, then left them to ferment natively. We continued to step in the bins through the first few days of fermentation to keep the liquid moving. The fermentation finished after nine days & we pressed the wine two days later. Elevage consisted of all neutral barrels & a very minimal amount of sulfuring over the following 30ish months. The wine was bottled unfiltered in January 2026.
Tasting Notes: This vintage came in slightly riper & more developed than the Syrah sometimes does, resulting in a richer, darker-fruited wine than we often see. The aromatics are mostly black fruits - blackberry, black plum - & minerality. The palate is smooth & plump with berries, with leathery tannins, & a nice saline finish.
