Vineyard Notes: The Heringers have been farming in Clarksburg since 1868. In the early 1970’s they were one of the first to plant vineyards on their property, pioneering the Clarksburg AVA. Now in their 7th generation, they grow many grape varieties in many locations in the Sacramento River delta, all farmed sustainably.
Cellar Notes: We received 2 tons of hand-picked fruit, which was destemmed to 2 bins. The wine took about 15 days to complete fermentation & was then pressed & racked to five barrels. The wine was then aged for 30 months before being bottled minimally filtered in April 2025. Prior to bottling, small amounts of Malbec, Zinfandel & Carignane were blended into the wine to improve the palate.
Tasting Notes: The nose is full of dark fruits - black plum, blueberry, blackberry - & has a nice herbal quality, with cardamom, bay leaf, eucalyptus & mocha. In the palate, the tannins are finely structured & carry an array of fruits & spices into a long finish of plum, cocoa, green peppercorns & oolong tea.
