Cellar Notes: 2022 was our 3rd year of whimsical experimentation with coferments…Again, we did 2 separate co-fermentations: one with the press juice of Carignane & Syrah (both harvested for rose) mixed into destemmed Gewurtraminer & the other a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Chenin blanc (both destemmed). Both were left to ferment on their own, then pressed to neutral oak barrels. After tasting the two wines in various configurations, we decided on a blend made up of 33% of the Car/Syr/Gwr blend & 77% of the Cas/Chb. The wine was blended & bottled unfiltered in April 2023.
Tasting Notes: An exuberant fruity & floral nose (influenced by the Gewurztraminer) presents bright cranberries, raspberries, lychee, thyme & pine. The palate has a slight tannic bite, with tropical notes of papaya, clove, cardamom & good acid presence through the finish.
