Vineyard Notes: Camino Alto Vineyard is farmed by Ron Mansfield & his son Chuck, who oversee the vineyards of some of the best wineries in the foothills. Their family has been growing grapes, peaches, plums, pears & apples in the foothills for 4 generations. The vineyard, planted to Chardonnay & Cabernet Franc, is located in the foothills north of Camino in El Dorado County.
Cellar Notes: Almost 3 tons of fruit was destemmed to bins with untoasted oak & a small tartaric acid addition for native fermentation. After dryness, the wine was racked to mostly neutral oak barrels with a small amount of Stampede Zinfandel. The wine was bottled in May 2024.
Tasting Notes: Less fruit-forward than previous vintages, this wine has tons of herbal savoriness. The primary black cherry/black currant notes give way to oregano, black pepper, bell pepper & clove, with big bold tannins & plum skin & cinnamon on the finish.
Label: We're paying homage to the Mansfield family as farmers suspend from their crops over looking their mountains.
Pair With: Tapenade, Eggplant Parmigiana, Steak or Veggie Fajitas, & Smoked Turkey with Cranberry Chutney
