Vineyard Notes: Fields Family Vineyard was the 1st certified organic vineyard in the Lodi appellation. They have about 10 acres of Syrah, and a few other varieties, all planted around 1990. The vineyard is west of 99, just south of Acampo.
Cellar Notes: We received approx 3 tons of fruit early in the morning. It was foot-treaded to 3 large macrobins for maceration & native fermentation. After fermentation, the wine was pressed & barreled into neutral oak. The wine matured for 18 months in neutral barrels, with regular topping & 1 racking. Bottling took place in February 2024 with a small sulfer addition & no filtration.
Tasting Notes: This Syrah is a consistently bright wine with good depth & acid & this vintage is no exception. The nose resonates with blue & black berries, ripe plum, & floral/herbal undertones. In the mouth it is typically zippy, with the fruits leaning more towards the red direction & subtle, delicate dried herbs & flowers.
