Vineyard Notes: A blend of grapes from 3 prominent Clarksburg farmers: Ogilvie (Wilson Vineyards), Heringers (Heringer Vineyards) & Merwin (Stillwater Ranch Vineyard).
Cellar Notes: The 2021 Chenin blanc is a blend of 3 different lots of grapes. The earliest pick, from Wilson Vineyards, comprises approximately 85% of the total. It was fermented in stainless steel, neutral oak barrels & a small amount in terracotta. The second - & smallest - pick was also fermented in a mix of stainless, barrel & terracotta. The final pick was fermented wholly in stainless. All 3 lots spent various amounts of time aging in barrel, with approximately ⅓ of the total remaining in stainless the entire time. The lots were blended together in stages, with the final blend taking shape in early January 2022.
Tasting Notes: A classic acid-driven Chenin blanc, the aromatics are all citrus & flowers: lemon, lime flower, citrus rind & minerality. The palate is racy with acid, fruity with grapefruit & pomelo & holds just a bit of Chenin funk back for the finish.
