Vineyard Notes: The Heringers have been farming in Clarksburg since 1868. In the early 1970’s they were one of the first to plant vineyards on their property, pioneering the Clarksburg AVA. Now in their 7th generation, they grow many grape varieties in locations all around the Sacramento River delta, all farmed sustainably.
Cellar Notes: We received about 2.7 tons of fruit, which looked very good. We destemmed this fruit to bins for native fermentation & when fermentation finished, we racked it to neutral oak. Before bottling, 10% Petit Verdot was blended into the wine to increase complexity on the finish and this wine was bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Typical lush black fruits - plum, blackberry - dominate the aromatics of this wine, with a nice rich tobacco & cedar underpinning. The palate has good fruit presence, with zesty acidity, smooth tannins & a lingering cocoa finish.
