Vineyard Notes: The Heringers have been farming in Clarksburg since 1868. In the early 1970’s they were one of the first to plant vineyards on their property, pioneering the Clarksburg AVA. Now in their 7th generation, they grow many grape varieties in many locations in the Sacramento River delta, all farmed sustainably.
Cellar Notes: We received 4.1 tons of hand-harvested fruit, which was destemmed to stainless steel for fermentation. The wine was dry by 10/28. The must was pressed to tank on 11/5 & allowed to settle until 11/11, when it was racked to 12 neutral barrels. With regular topping, an addition of Valdiguié the wine matured until February of 2022, when it was racked & bottled with only a light filtration.
Tasting Notes: The nose is redolent of rich fruits & spice - plum, dark cherries, Medjool dates, green peppercorn, clove. On the palate the flavors are concentrated & earthy, with cherry cola, iron & leather. The tannins are very fine & smooth & the finish is graceful & mellow.
