Carneros Pinot Noir - a world renowned region for Pinot Noir!
Vineyard Notes: Rancho Paradiso, Carneros. Rancho Paradiso is a small backyard vineyard on the Sonoma side of Carneros (the southernmost & coolest section of Napa & Sonoma Valleys), very close to San Pablo Bay. 25 vines planted 1986. This area benefits from the almost daily morning fogs, which make it ideal for cool-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir. This is now our third vintage working with this fruit and the vineyard is getting better each year; we’re excited to see what the future brings.
Cellar Notes: Received 1.5 tons of fruit late in the evening. Foot-treaded to a macrobin for fermentation. Punched down 2-3 times daily until dryness, then pressed to neutral oak barrels for elevage. The wine was racked out of barrel & bottled unfiltered in March 2021. We really want to let the vineyard speak for itself with this wine.
Tasting Notes: We were hesitant to bring in a Carneros Pinot Noir, as we really believe in showcasing what the Sacramento area has to offer, but we took a chance on working with this fruit and we are so glad we did! Aromas are intense with red cherry & strawberry fruits, lilac, earth, mushrooms & green herbs. The palate is bright with good acidity, earthy undertones & pleasantly grippy.
