Dark purple fruits such as plum & blackberry with touches of baking spice, earthiness & acid.
Vineyard Notes: Heringer Vineyards in Clarksburg was planted in the 1970s, and is home to fourth generation farmers. Heringer Vineyards are certified sustainable and Clarksburg is an ideal AVA because it is surrounded by the cooling waterways of the Sacramento River Delta with a great breeze in the evenings but still experience great heat to let the grapes flourish during the days.
Cellar Notes: We received 4 tons of fruit early in the morning. 1½ tons were deposited into the open-top tank whole cluster and foot treaded; the remaining 2.5 tons were destemmed on top of the clusters. After 6 days of cold maceration, fermentation began. Wine was racked & sat in neutral barrels for 17 months prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes: This wine displays all the distinctive notes of delta-grown Petite Sirah. Dark purple fruits such as plum & blackberry are dominant on the nose, with a touch of baking spice & a fecund earthiness. It is surprisingly playful on the palate, with acid keeping it lively above a clove, sage & loam finish.
