Always a customer favorite - a blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of bold berries, cocoa nibs & a hint of black pepper.
Cellar Notes: 2018 being the last year of fruit from Monarch Mine Vineyard in Placer County, we decided to turn this vintage of Syrah into a blend. The Syrah was partially foot-treaded with the remaining destemmed on top of the whole clusters. This wine went through native fermentation. At dryness, it was racked to neutral barrels for elevage. The Cabernet Sauvignon was destemmed to tank & inoculated for fermentation, then racked to barrels at dryness, with approximately 50% of the barrels seeing new French oak. The wines were blended early on & returned to barrels to allow the flavors to meld.
Tasting Notes: Starts with bold berry & cola aromas, with roasted cocoa nibs rounding out the edges. In the mouth there is blackberry, more cola & a hint of black pepper.
