Always a customer favorite, this wine is bright with notes of blood orange and spice with a graceful and long finish.
Vineyard Notes: Located on Lodi’s cooler western side, Cherryhouse Vineyard enjoys a moderate Mediterranean climate that receives the cooling delta breezes from the nearby San Francisco Bay. The area is known for its deep, fertile soils -- Tokay Sandy Loam which is extremely well-drained for an alluvial soil. Vines were planted in 1975 & are head-trained. Conventionally farmed, but with minimal synthetic inputs.
Cellar Notes: Fruit was destemmed to macrobins and punched down thrice daily until dryness, then pressed & racked to barrel for elevage. Spent 16 months in neutral oak.
Tasting Notes: Bright & shiny nose, with cherry Jolly Rancher™, blood orange, violets, & coriander & tarragon spice. In the mouth, it is rich & complex, showing cherry & watermelon fruits, with a nice touch of mushroomy, menthol earthiness. The finish is graceful & long, with lingering spice of clove & floral aspects.
