Vineyard Notes: Located on Lodi’s West side with its low elevation, it is the coolest part of Lodi: a moderate Mediterranean climate that receives the cooling delta breezes from the nearby San Francisco Bay. The area is known for its deep, fertile soils: Tokay Sandy Loam which is extremely well-drained for an alluvial soil. Vines were planted in 1975 & are head-trained. Conventionally farmed, but with minimal synthetic inputs.
Cellar Notes: Received 2 tons of fruit mid morning, fruit was natively fermented in macrobins. Spent 16 months in neutral oak during elevage.
Tasting Notes: Ripe blackberries & boysenberry combine with black cherry, tarragon, basil, & rose hips in the nose. The palate is full-bodied with more berries, herbs, cedar & pine nuts leading to a long earthy finish.
