A varietal characteristic Sauvignon Blanc: fresh herbs, lime zest, straw.
Vineyard Notes: Linsteadt Vineyards, Amador County. 33 planted acres, of which eight are Sauvignon blanc, in the heart of Shenandoah Valley. Sustainably farmed. Paul Linsteadt is the second generation owner and lives on this property and makes his own wine from these grapes. He also grows Barbera, Grenache, and Zinfandel.
Cellar Notes: Received 6 bins (~3 tons) of fruit early in the morning. Fruit was destemmed directly to the press then juice was left to cold settle in tank for 4 days. After cold settling the juice was split into 2 lots - 7 barrels (~60%) & stainless tank (~40%) - for fermentation. The 2 lots were recombined into a stainless steel tank after dryness & stirring of barrels to be bottled unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Varietal in character with a mix of fresh herbs, lime zest & straw aromas. In the mouth it combines a racy acidity, key lime, sage & grapefruit.
