Rosé season is here!
Vineyard Notes: The Wilsons are 3rd generation farmers in Clarksburg, originally supplying sugar beets to the old sugar mill. They started planting grapes in the 1970s. Block 20 is on Courtland Rd, between Elk & Prospect Sloughs, & was planted in 1994.
Cellar Notes: 3 tons of hand-harvested fruit arrived & were destemmed to press & immediately pressed. The juice was racked to tank & 2 barrels for fermentation, which took 9 days. After fermentation, both lots were racked together to tank prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes: A mellow fruit salad rules the nose here, with guava, strawberry, blood orange, pippin apple, & geranium all present. The palate is smooth & silky, reminiscent of strawberry lemonade, blood orange sherbert & potpourri.
