NEW RELEASE!
Vineyard Notes: The Wilsons are 3rd generation farmers in Clarksburg, originally supplying sugar beets to the old sugar mill. They started planting grapes in the 1970s. Wilson Vineyards Block 44 is directly behind their tasting room off Babel Slough Rd near the slough so there are hot Summer days but cool breezes at night. The grapes were planted in 1994.
Cellar Notes: We added 3 tons of Merlot from Wilson Vineyards to our 2019 harvest to make up for dropping fruit from another vineyard that did not meet our quality expectations. The grapes were destemmed to macrobins for fermentation. The wine was dry 11 days later & was subsequently pressed to neutral oak barrels for elevage. The final blend includes 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, also from Wilson Vineyards and was bottles unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Aromatically, this wine has bright fruits like strawberry & plum, with a decent dose of herbal basil, hibiscus, & green pepper. In the mouth it is playful & light, with big fruits & an earthy, dusty finish.
