A light bodied red wine that is perfect for your Thanksgiving table.
Vineyard Notes: Acquistipace Vineyard, Ron Acquistipace has tended this backyard vineyard just west of Fairfield since he bought the property in the early 1970, though vines were planted by the previous owner some time before that. There are approximately 70 head-trained vines on a ¼ acre parcel next to Ron’s persimmon & kiwi trees. The vineyard is completely organic & dry-farmed & yields anywhere from ½ to ¾ tons of fruit each vintage.
Cellar Notes: Very often our last pick of harvest, we generally take a crew of friends to hand-pick this vineyard ourselves, then foot-tread the fruit in the picking bins for whole-cluster fermentation. This vintage was pressed on 11/21/18 & put to a single neutral barre where it matured until June of 2020.
Tasting Notes: Aromatically, this wine displays cranberry fruits with a distinct herbal edge, reminding one of basil, tarragon & green peppercorn. There is a nice savory note as well, reminiscent of smoked meats. The palate is light & lively, with more cranberry notes, sweet spices & green olive.
